NEILSON PARK

Public BBQ

One of the better parks to break a long drive at, sitting by the river at Coonabarabran. The toilets are consistently clean and well stocked, there are heaps of picnic tables and shaded grassy spots, and easy parking. Shady paths run along the river, some of them wheelchair and pram accessible. The playground has some genuinely good equipment, and there is a fenced dog area, though the grass in it is patchy and dry compared with the rest of the park. An old well and some interpretive signs are dotted about. It is at its best in autumn, and works well for a coffee and a snack picked up in town.
